Anybody know of recordings that use any of the Ome open backs? Preferably the ones with the wood tone rim. I know there’s stuff on YouTube. Thx
I think Abigail Washburn and also Roy Andrade (of the great and sadly defunct Reeltime Travelers) both play Ome Jubilee banjos with wooden rings.
Tom Collins often plays his Ome that he calls the best banjo he’s ever heard. Plenty of his stuff on YouTube.
Yup, seen the Tom Collins stuff. The tone he pulls out of his Tupelo is sublime.
I was thinking more of his Omega, the one with the gorgeous Glen Carson inlays. It’s pretty much the same as I get from my MIra. Both have the “vintage” tone ring, which gets remarkable tone and volume from a simple design.
That one sounds great too. He seems to be able to make them all sound wonderful. Thinking of buying one but will probably stay with the wood tone rim.
