I would like to get a new banjo head to replace the broken one on my 2007 Gibson ESS banjo. Please let me know if anyone has a new one for sale or where I can get an exact replacement.

You probably will not find an identical Remo head. I am currently using American Made Banjo "pre-EPA" formula heads, which I find very satisfactory.

Your head is just a basic, standard 11", top frosted, high crown (possibly medium crown) Remo, available at a thousand different websites ( try Smakula, First Quality, Elderly Instruments, to name a few)

As Bob says, you probably wont find an "identical" head, as Remo seems to change their logo, and frosting formulations every now and then.

Since you are in Great Falls Montana, try Greg Boyd's House of Fine Instruments in Missoula.

If that spot is simply worn off frosting and not an actual hole through the head, just keep it. It a badge of your dedication to the banjo--a wonderful symbol!

Thanks, my banjo head is completely broken so I need to replace it.

I found a Remo that is top frosted, but does say Weatherking. I hope that is ok.

Weatherking is an older brand name for Remo. You're good.

Make sure it's not a "low" crown.

I meant the head does not say Weatherking.

You want a medium-crown head. A low-crown head will leave the tension hoop "too high up".
