Tony Lombardo earlier posted about how much Eddy loved and valued the BHO. I thought it would be a nice way to say thank you to Eddy and all things great about the BHO by posting videos/mp3's inspired by his music.   It's important to keep this forum going.

Here is my humble thank you. (I hope Jack Ray posts his recent video of an Eddy Davis original here too)….

Thanks Eddy. I had never thought of doing “Summer Song” until you suggested it. I was so excited about your version of it that I hurriedly threw together a version to post. It’s not great, but it wouldn’t even exist without you. Thanks for this song, and thanks for so, so much more.

Cheers to Eddy! Lovely to see the tributes from all the members here and other musicians across the world. I don't think I'd ever spent half the time with the banjo if it weren't for Eddy.

Really enjoyed the Chopin and the Brubeck. Here's the tribute I posted the other day.

Thanks for sharing Tony and Jack. Let's hope more people post more Eddy-influenced music....

I learned that song and did the video three or four years ago. I haven’t seen it since I did it—until today. As I rewatch it, I realize how much I’ve grown since then. So much of that growth was due to Eddy’s friendship and tutelage. I’ve still obviously got a long, long way to go, but Eddy’s inspiration is going to keep me moving in the right direction.

Apologies for being MIA lately. (BTW - Great seeing/hearing you here again, Tony!!)

One of the transformative blessings of my life was hearing Eddy at a banjo rally on Long Island play Fletcher Henderson's "Stampede" as a banjo feature piece...quite a jump from the razz-ma-tazz of the standard 4-string war horses featured by most at those events at the time. It was a personal epiphany which led me to study classic jazz and music theory more deeply. I never heard a banjo played like that before....

A couple of years later at another show, I was talking with Eddy at his table in the merchant area. He said, "Hey Bobby, you're a big kid - try out this!" as he handed me a Gibson trap-door cello banjo from under the display table. He played (and I fumbled my way through) some beautiful Gershwin & Ellington tunes - absolutely magical and mind-opening. Blew my mind even further when he called me at home a month or so later to invite me to sub with the NY Banjo Ensemble with him, Cynthia Sayer & Frank Vignola. Later, I'd play in the NYBE with other notables including Wayne Wright, Howard Alden, Pete Compo and Mike Peters. Clearly punching way out of my weight class.

Many musical memories later, I'm ever grateful for that opportunity and his support for (our) never-ending pursuit of banjo musicality. Thank you forever & always, Eddy!

Eddy’s reach extended far beyond the tenor banjo. I participated in a group thread here a while back featuring this tune. Eddy was always generous and encouraging with his comments. Sadly missed.

Carrie, Eddy's TOTM was popular on this forum, right here, from day one. Eddy loved getting us involved, and hearing our takes ..... and we loved playin' them!.
Here's a couple from yesteryear ......

Last night I was reading all the nice words of Eddy. While I have learned many of his tunes from tutorials, I thought I would attempt a new one from his archive he posted a couple years ago.
Forever grateful for his inspiration.

from the Alice Blue Gown tutorial.

Great stuff - that's a nice tune - I like the way you switch tempo second time round.

Thanks a lot Carrie, it needs a lot of work but wanted to honor Eddy's memory while I had some free time last night.
