You mentioned you were chronographed some 80gr bullets.
If your barrel sufficient twist, you might consider a 100gr bullet, if you ever want to use it for hunting.
I once shot a monster, old rank boar hog, with a .243, using a 100gr Nosler Partition. Clean one shot.
I was surprised to see it penetrated all the way through. Took out several ribs and both lungs.
Wild hogs have a bristle shield around the shoulder area. A large boar hog, it is very thick.
I would not have thought a .243 was capable of doing that.
I think you could probably get 2500fps with your cartridge. Not too far behind a .243.
I think it was Elmer Keith who once said that velocity over 2300 is a lot of wasted energy.

I like the way this is coming along. You don't see many people doing this sort of thing any more.
Did you originate this round ?
If so, you get to name it.

Lucky me!
I've read enough posts in Figmoese that I knew he meant ANNEAL, and not "anal", so I did not spit coffee all over my keyboard.

I just went 24 cal..cawse here in ct..6mm...or larger...is  leagle diameter to hunt..or shoot deer...

I would call it a 6mmRemington Max...
