Very nice job.

I've always wanted a Krag, but never really got one.
Hornady introduced a commercially available round with a 180gr bullet for the original round. Muzzle velocity of 2200 fps.
Krags are known for their smooth action.
I'm going to give some thought to getting one.

You must like to reload.
What is the parent cartridge of your 6mm Rem Max ? 6mm Remington perhaps ?

From left to right...
357 maximum.....formed 6mm Rem max...n..another case made of .223 remington...that chambers n fires too..
The maximum case is a rimmed case..
The .223 is rimless..but it you are careful in the trimming n forming..it will head space..correctly..
Becose of the way the extractor works..both work fine..
Bounius...becose .223 is very plentifull..

The case is mid way between a 6mm/222..n..a 6mm/223
Aka...6x43..n..6x45..

80 gr bullet might git about 2900fps to 3000 fps..is the hope..

Just made it cose I could.. there is no real practical reason for it..
Had to make the reloading dies for it too..
But case forming is done simply with 6x45 standard dies..

The way it works is..the original mag parts of the Krag are removed..
The case is only extracted..n..not ejected...
But simply falls in to the mag backwards.. n is collected there..
Open the loading gate.. n collect yer reloading brass..

No more lookin in the weeds fer it... ;0*)

It must be satisfying to do quality work like that.

I bet you could build a top shelf banjo.

Awesome, I’ve never seen a Krag action up close - it looks quite busy. Nice job mate, re-barrel, furniture, case forming and die making!!

I really like the cases falling into the magazine and not being flung out all over the place, that's lateral thinking.
Back in the day here in Aus (pre-1996) I had an M1 Garand which threw cases round me in a complete circle, and an M14 which threw them out to the 4-o'clock position. I usually got all my brass back, but there was a "rate of attrition" of my 308 Norma brass from the M14 which was annoying.
These days my bolt-action centrefire rifles are fairly predictable where they throw the brass, and I get all my cases back. Having them fall into the magazine saves a lot of searching. Very clever! I like your woodworking too.

Nice. I've always wanted a Danish or Norwegian Krag to go along with my US 1898; my first rifle which was given to me by the local American Legion post commander for being their bugler when I was in late middle-school. I still have it and supplies to reload it, but haven't shot it for some years.

Dad had a 30 40 Krag -- it was a cannon for me in my early teens . Had a 35 Ford coupe a neighbor gave me not licensed cause I was too young but would crank the windshield open & visit all of the nearby meadows I could for woodchucks . Was like havin my own tank w/ the Krag out over the hood .
