This song by Si Kahn was MEANT for clawhammer banjo! It's got a great sing-along chorus, harmony singing options, and uses many of the same 2-finger chord positions as tunes like Mississippi Sawyer. Si recorded it on his first album, "New Wood" back inn the 1970's. Blue Rose (Cathy Fink, MArcy Marxer, Laurie Lewis, Sally Van Meter, Molly Mason) recorded it in 1989 and Cathy & Marcy still perform it. A song that lasts that long is sticky! Oh, hell yes! What a fantastic tune, and great performance. Well done ??
I've known that tune since I was child, from John McCutcheon's version, which doesn't feature any banjo. I just learned it on fiddle (poorly) a week or two ago!
I love that Wild Rose CD. Every song on it's a winner.
Sorry, I meant that Blue Rose CD.
