Had a fun day on Monday. Went to buy bread groceries from a bakery that has diversified during the lockdown. Wife said she’d come for the ride and stay in the car (it is a very picturesque drive). She then suggested she brings her new puppy ‘for the ride’. I object on account of its’,tendency to get car sick - I’m overruled. One hour later I’m cleaning dog projectile vomit from the car seat, door and floor.

Just finished with the dog puke to walk into the house to find my 12 year old daughter pulling the electrical flex out of the vacuum cleaner - it appears to have turned cannibal and is eating itself. I see bare copper and yell at her to stop which she does - thankfully. Turns out son (10) had managed to suck up 10 feet of flex somehow (this is the replacement vacuum for the one he blew sucking up spillled water). Another hour spent undertaking major surgery and flex shortening (middle section grrr) on the vacuum.

I’m ready for a beer by now, but have to cook tea first. Into the kitchen and I find I have now power to the oven or hob. I then realise that the fridge and freezer are wired into the same junction box which is tripping the electrics. Tea plans revised and coked on a camping stove whilst 12 year old admits she did use rather a lot of water whilst cleaning the kitchen ....... remedial works took three hours that night and another two the following day.

I suppose it’s nice to have a day when ‘it’s not your fault’ but hopefully next time, I could have them on three separate days, and  when the car valet and hardware shops are open smiley

Wow, Jonty. A wise man once said that " Without problems we cease to exist and the more problems we have, the more alive we are". Pal, you must really feel alive after that "fun" day.

He he - very true Don, thanks for sharing that.  I must admit that the air was 'alive' for a while too !

Ha - fortunately not Al, but I know it's throws up in the car so why she wanted to take it somewhere where it wouldn't get a walk at the end is beyond me - but not worth objecting to!!

Ok, translation needed. What is a hob? I did figure out the knob of butter from another post...since your butter is blocks, not sticks.
Problem is, Google translate does not have an English to American feature. ??

Nearly, it's actually pronounced Hob, and it usually sits above the grill - which I believe you guys mistakenly refer to as a broiler smiley

Hob is a 4-element/burner stove top (aka range) for cooking stuff in the kitchen.
Broiler & oven for baking is under that.
Mine has a very noisy pots and pans metal storage drawer at the bottom.

"Grill" is propane or charcoal fired for cooking outdoors.
Chopped up a little, they can be converted into long/low/slow serious BBQ cookers.
I broke down and treated myself to #18 which is charcoal-fired.

You can get your kids to vacuum (or, as you might say, hoover)? And without prompting them? Count your bloody blessings, mate!

He he, to be honest I do, every day.  Their mum has MS and they are both superbly helpful in all aspect of life.  When I have a moan there's always a little tongue in cheek.  But then, sometimes we all need a moan!

It's nice to have bi-lingual Canukians who can speak both Brit AND Yank.
