Most will not know his name but we lost a great old friend and picker from an earlier era, Mr. C. E. Pullen, of Boston, Georgia. "C.E." died peacefully of natural causes today at the age of 98. He was an amazing artist who played with many of the greats during his time here. Some older players may recall his name so I thought I would pass the news along. You can find this amazing man on YouTube if you are interested. C.E. Pullen will be sorely missed.
Sorry to hear Steven and thanks so much for pointing us to his playing - a fine picker indeed playing one of my favourite tunes to try and play myself:
Always sad to hear that a beloved picker and friend has passed. I work with several nursing homes and get to meet many old time picker. I have watched the cycle of time consume all people and hate when time comes to an end. My condolences to the friends and family.
I had the honor of meeting him in 1979. Over the course of a few years I picked with him and Red Lindsey, et al quite a few times.
He was so welcoming and helpful to our Pony Express guys from ABAC.
Good man. Good picker with a unique style.
