This shows the melody but not a lot else. A member asked for a tab, but I have no idea how to create tab. Hope this helps someone.

Some people are visual learners and your video should be helpful to them. Here's a short tab that I did for a student of mine based on Ola Bell Reed's version that some may find helpful.

Thanks David,

@cynbuckman - I didn't think to say search tabs on here. Hopefully this helps. My version uses the melody as sung, this version is what OBR plays.

Im working out the banjo for I've endured now which has such a prominent banjo accompaniment. This doesn't follow the melody either. Could be a tab on here for that too.

I've been playing/singing this one for years, but I prefer it out of modal tuning. Great song but I thought it was too short and needed at least one extra verse so I made one up, trying to preserve Ola's syntax/feeling tone. I add, drop and alter words to most of my songs. Anyway, here is my attempt:

As I make my way down the mountainside
There's a pain in my heart that does abide
As I turn to my home, wondering where you roam
Wondering why our love was denied

(High part)
So back to my li–fe, doing the best I can
Doing all these things here at hand
But back of my mi–nd, the question does reside
Why was our love denied
(Regular chorus again – High....)

Hi Tom,

New bits fit well. I think folk songs have always been tweeked and changed by the singer. Good job.

Do you have a modal version in mind that I could check out? Have you recorded one?

I like the idea of it!

Thanks again!
