Note that this is a focused study of the revival in Washington, D.C. and not a national survey.

I read the book about John Duffey recently. The album Mountain Music Bluegrass Style had mostly Baltimore/Washington musicians on it. One of my first bluegrass albums.

Five years ago, I bought and read the book "Folk City - New York and the American Folk Music Revival" by Stephyen Petrus and Ronald D. Cohen. You might find it in a local library near you (when they reopen); just enter you zip code.

There was an area in Toronto called Yorkville that was the hub of folk music coffeehouses in the 1960’s, not unlike Greenwich Village in NYC. Folks like Ian & Sylvia, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Buffy Ste. Marie, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Murray McLauchlan, etal. we’re regulars there, as well as American and British performers.

“...it’s popularity suggests a kind of non-violent resistance against the quality of contemporary life.”

A wonderfully perceptive observation and quote.

Thanks for posting the link. An interesting and informative read. yes
