Here's a quick and dirty stab at a tutorial for Steve Martin's viral "Banjo Balm" video, which is really called "Friend of Mine." youtube.com/watch?v=dseWDXxijH...EG8Q-RXOI

Steve Martin's tune has gotten a large audience very quickly. While David was working on his video tutorial, I was working on some tab. It will be no surprise that David and I hear slightly different things in the video, but we agree on most of the tune. For those of you who learn from tab, here is some tab to get you started. I have tabbed Part A with repeats and Part B with the concluding phrase. Martin plays it AABAB.

Thanks for posting that, Dave. That is a great tune, and it's fun to play.

Has anyone taken a shot at tabbing, "Banjo Calm," which Steve posted on youtube on March 27, 2020.

I'll try to take a look at this. Others are welcome to do so too.

The most difficult thing for me about the Banjo Balm performance is how Martin spaces out, if that is the right term, the opening notes. Looks like he is locking his thumb and index together at the beginning like if he was holding an invisible guitar pick. I guess this helps to not go into a bump-a-diddy rhythm right away. I find it really difficult to let notes just hang like that and leaving the other strings alone without going into a drop thumb rhythm. But the way he does it, he lets the piece escalate and build up. It is really nice.

David, someone was asking for tab for this on my YouTube page. Is it ok to share this with them if I give you credit? Or would you like to share it?
