Hi all, I hope you are staying healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic. I thought I'd help you pass the time with a new interview I did with Patrick at Pisgah Banjos for my blog, The Glory-Beaming Banjo. Check it out here: glorybeamingbanjo.blogspot.com...with.html

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!

Excuse me, I think his name is Patrick Heavner.

Actually, he recently changed his last name to Sawyer when he got married. I asked him about this when I interviewed him. Though it's noted in the first paragraph that his name was formerly Heavner, perhaps that is something I could clarify. Thank you for reading.

Nice article. I bought a Pisgah 12" Dobson about a year ago. I had several personal emails with Patrick at that time. He was extremely easy, pleasant, and prompt, to work with.

The banjo he built for me is awesome!! Great looking, fantastic sounding. I have had nothing but wonderful comments from everyone who has heard it. Many have said they are giving serious consideration to ordering one.

Thank you Patrick

He told me at Clifftop last Summer about changing his name to Sawyer. I don't know if this had much to do with why he changed his name, but he said something about how everyone kept mispronouncing "Heavner".

His pronuciation showed me I had mispronounced it all along without knowing it, so I was one of the culprits.

I am very impressed with this young man, and his banjos, I think both are top quality. I also thoroughly enjoyed a tour he gave me of his shop a few years ago.

In my opinion his banjos are among the best, or even the best, production banjos available. Very good, honest banjos at an honest price.

Even though I build my own, I am tempted to buy one of his every time I look at them at Clifftop.

That's an interesting tid-bit, thanks -- and maybe worth a follow-up question or two?  As of today, both the Pisgah and Balsam Banjoworks sites still hand out his name as Heavner...

Here is what he wrote me last month: "My legal name is Patrick Heavner however my wife and I are both changing our last names to Sawyer soon. We plan to do this before the baby comes in July so you can use Sawyer. We are just in this weird translation phase right now."

Great interview Brad. Pisgah banjos are top shelf as far as I'm concerned. I'm glad I own one.

Patrick has always been great to deal with when I've emailed with questions. A friend recently interviewed for a position at Pisgah and had nothing but good things to say about Patrick and his whole operation. They're doing some good stuff out there.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the folks here who checked out my interview with Patrick. That post has quickly become my most viewed page in almost two years. Much appreciated!

In the interview Patrick said "I was hooked from there and simply could not stop building banjos."

I have the same affliction, and there seems to be no cure.
