Why not build a new one? That would take a lot of time and keep someone out of the general public a lot longer than ordering a new one.

Wow that's weird. I heard that to avoid spreading the banjo disease, that everyone should use earplugs.

There really IS a lot of misinformation out there!

But I thought the whole point WAS to spread the Banjo Disease....just not COVID-19.  ;-)

Man, I gotta change the channel and change my sources of information!! I went to the hardware store and ALL the earplugs are sold out, some idiots are hoarding them all to themselves for the coming banjo apocalypse. Damn them.

It seems there's no way now to slow the spread of this horrible banjo disease, it's now a worldwide thing.

We're all doomed.

So for me, I'm gonna follow the advice in the opening post -- I guess, begrudgingly -- since now I have no choice and it seems it's less harmful. I mean, being a banjo picker, "social distancing" is built-in already and part of my banjo-modified DNA. I'm used to it!

Sharing banjos can cause infections which lead to a whole bunch of complications and could cause birth defects.

I may annoy my family if I play too much banjo while we are quarantined together.

Might be a good time to learn the fiddle from scratch.  devil

I had the same concern. I decided to brush up on tenor banjo while quarantined. First thing I did was flip over the '29 Slingerland and tuck an old towel between the dowel stick and the head directly under the bridge. It's just loud enough for me to enjoy without driving the entire family up a tree.

Apparently It's currently the fashion to use a roll of toilet paper for muting/dampening. That explains the curent shortage according to tin hat dot com.
