Hello everyone I’m new to the forum but I’ve got a chance to buy a 1996 Deering Boston five for $625 or a Washburn b16 for 650 I’m new to banjo I’m not sure which one to buy please help thanks

Go with the Deering. Much better quality, especially for that price.

Agree. The Boston is a good banjo, especially at that price.

I have a 2007 Deering Boston, yes I would go for the Deering!

Assuming they're both in decent shape, I agree with the Deering.

However, a lot can happen to a musical instrument in 24 years. Be sure to look it over good, and play it (or listen to it) before you part with cash. Or get a return option, and let an experienced player or luthier examine it. Surface blemishes are not that important, but sound and playability are.

Other people can give you more advise on details of what you should look for.
