I have wondered, but I figure that, as much as I enjoy his sunrise photos, he does not OWE me any, so if he prefers to sleep a bit later, that's his business entirely.

However, I will send him a PM,let him know his art is appreciared and missed.
Maybe he'll resume.
Thanks for motivating me to do so.

Looking at his BHO page it appears he's posting regularly all the time. Just not in Off-Topic anymore, at least in the last 2 months. I guess he got over it. It happens from time to time. Everyone needs a break from the clown and pony show from time to time.

He's always ignored me when I email him directly so I stay away from his posts because I am unwelcomed. No biggie. But he does take some cool photos (I guess theyre his?) from the few I've seen.

As it's only 11:49 where I live ... Good Morning.

I am taking a good morning break. I think I have posted 2 - 3000 good morning posts, and just now that seems good enough. Perhaps I will return later (Janolov Returns).

Jan, take a break as long as you need but....... please come back and post daily photos. There are a lot of us who enjoy looking at them each morning.

There were only a handful of us that posted on his thread & expressed our appreciation of it.

That might of had something to do with it! wink

Seems that good things don't last for ever. Disincentives come from all sorts of direction. So many of Jan's images look just like western Canada. Interesting to see the strong parallel with half a world away.

That was partly why I retired when I did = woke up one morning, convinced that after 30+ years, I just had no appetite to do that job any more. I still believe it. Great job, nice people, good money and I handed in my last grades and keys and walked out.

I never participated in those threads because I felt unwelcome there. If I'm wrong on that, I welcome being corrected. I don't expect to be corrected, though.

I did, however, look at them from time to time. I always thought those were stock photos he was posting. Now I understand they are his original work. He's a helluva photographer, it's beautiful, artistic work and he understands composition exceptionally well: how to frame a subject for best emotional and aesthetic effect. That's not a learned thing and not everyone knows how to properly frame an image. With the proliferation of cameras everywhere, it's almost a lost art now. He got that down pat and it seems to flow naturally. That's why I always thought they were professional stock photos...

Frank. It wasn't really about conversations. People would check in & comment on the pic or mention their weather. I'm just surprised more people weren't interested but I say Good Morning! to lots of people that don't answer back.

I think a lot of people just don't want to post on a thread sometimes, even if they enjoy looking at the pictures that are on it.

I look every morning for his good morning posts and picture and usually oh, and ah at how beautiful they are, but don't click on the like button or make a comment because that's just not me. I'm sure others do the same.

I would check every morning to check on the weather in different parts of the world. I know I could use one of the weather web sites but it was better to get someone's observations.
28f here in the North Woods, 20f wind chill wind gusts as high as 28 mph. Supposed to get up to 40f today.
Love your pics Jan, any of them could have been taken within a few miles of our home. I think I could feel right at home in southern Sweden and sure you would be comfortable here in northern Wisconsin. I have saved some of your pics and recall asking if you minded using some of them for wallpaper on my PC. You generously said yes, thank you.

LOL. My ex-wife (thank God) was from Peshtigo, Wisconsin.

She used to tell me that in Wisconsin there are only two seasons: Winter, and Getting Ready for Winter.

Yesterday was 24 degrees in the morning, today was about 32. I'm getting too old for this, it sometimes cuts to the bone.

Good morning.

Sounds to me like she was using typical mid-western understatement. 32f is sweatshirt and shorts weather. We have a saying here that -20f keeps the riff raff out but don't tell the southerners that.

Hey, Frank!  Interesting town, Peshtigo.

The great Peshtigo fire killed more people, same day  as the great Chicago fire. Deadliest fire in the entire history of the United States.

But Chicago got more publicity.

Visited the Fire Museum, including the earthen mound over the mass grave. A sobering experience.

Hey Mike. Thanks for reminding me. I had forgotten. Yeah I had seen tons of photos of that fire, but can't remember where I saw them. I think that fire almost wiped out the entire town. My ex-mother-in-law's house was in the part of town that was spared from the fire. It was a pretty sad thing.

I visited a couple of times there in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Wisconsin. My ex had told me that A&W Root Beer had originated from there, as we ate in an A&W Restaurant. But I just looked that up and see it's not true, apparently.

I remember when driving around the UP, that the air stank pretty badly, and I joked in my best Wisconsin accent: We went to the Yooo Peee and it was Peee Yooo!

To wizofos, yeah, -21 degrees would keep this riffraff away for sure! It works! :)

But during the summer months, it was quite nice up there.

Good Afternoon.
