Hi all. I wanted to get your take on an old banjo I bought a bunch of years ago as a possible wall hanger, then I decided there may be something special about it other than it's being an old one. I never thought to post about it here. Can any one look at the pictures and tell me much about it? I have Googled it and found some information but wanted to to see what fellow players have to say. Ibought it ona whim at my local music store. I went in one day to nuy strings and the owner, who knew I played banjo brought it out and showed it to me. He took it on a trade and wanted $200 for it. I didn't think it was that bad so I bought it. I don't even remember how long ago it was. Anyway, here's some pictures. What I think is unique about it is the metal hoop mounted inside the pot.
Cool banjo! The William Farmer patent ring is in upside down... the flat part should be towards the tailpiece.
Morrisons can be really excellent instruments, not fancy but nice tone.
Nice find! Wish I still had my 12.25" Morrison, great banjo...
