I really loved the way Courtney Johnson played.
Tennessee Banjo Institute - 1992 - Fiddle Tunes Workshop
So did I ,a great tune and playing
I don't know if it is true, but I once was told Courtney needed a tooth pulled.
He got a pair of pliars, and some whiskey, took care of it himself.
I heard that in 1981. I've always wondered if it is true.
Great song and great playing.
In the day Courtney was getting the best tone in the melodic style. He had the dynamics down to a fine art.
BTW If you read this Butch I consider your break on Tut Taylors rough and ready about my favorite break in a scruggs setting .But sometimes I like Joe Drumwrights Roll on Buddy a tad better

Really love the you play too, Butch. I have deep grooves worn in your old vinyls! I think there might be holes all the way through Dusty Miller and Jerusalem Ridge!
That was just wonderful.
Looks like David Grier on guitar.
