Does anyone know if there exists some kind of end bolt that can thread onto a modern banjo? I'm not a fan of the L-bracket.

Normally you'll see the round ball lug on banjos that don't have an L bracket used.  These are readily available and you can find them in various lengths that position the tailpiece mounting blt hole at various distances from the rim face.  The center distance is also sometimes adjusted by the use of flat washers between the rim surface and the base of the ball end lug.

I mean more like an end bolt that threads onto the end of the coordinator rod that the bracket sits on, rather than having to make a new hole in the rim
