Who would have imagined a Windsor Whirle so far from home? Waycross, Georgia is pretty far from everywhere actually.
I had one just like it a few years back. Except mine was a 5 string and had a tunneled fifth sting so the fifth string peg was in the middle of the peg head. I regret selling that one actually.
Well at $2,000 USD, it is probably going to stay in Waycross GA for a good long while.
There are many instruments in North America that were brought here 100+ years ago by people from the UK and other countries..I understand that complaining about immigrants moving to North America is bordering on politics these days but normal thinking people understand that we all came from elsewhere centuries ago... I love the quality of the prewar UK banjos and I have a hard time passing on one when I see one advertised locally regardless of the price.
Always fun to see something which is old and still beautiful.
Anyone who is interested, I have pictures of the 5 string winsor on my page. You can see the 5th string peg in the middle of the headstock. If anyone knows who has it, I will buy it back from them. ??
