------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pick-nicking atop a green grass ledge one spring warm day down the lower acre, enjoying the serenity, the stillness all alone down there, on rising, sitting up, my arms wrapped around my knees, I glanced down looking at a bare patch of earth amongst the short green grass, were some ants, after some time watching those speedy busy creatures coming and going, in and out from their earth hole, looking closer the ones coming out from the hole were carrying cargo, small earth lumps, humping these earth rocks and weaving out between the grass roots dumping it some 10’ feet away, I couldn’t see exactly where.

- All this busy activity traffic going at terrific ant speed, 50 mph? My mind entered ant world, what was the urgency? Why didn’t they walk and not run? All was so thought provoking, imagining everything as a set-stage, with an audience for one, me.

- Coming along ants weaving by-passing each other between the grass, the ants retuning from their trek back toward the earth hole, stopped and had a brief sociable chat with the ones loaded with rocks, what were they saying to each other, can you imagine anything? If they weren’t conversing what was the reason to brake so quick, and hurry way.

There's a lot to unpack there, but I'm sticking with the ants.

I learned long time ago, don't mess with ants. They'll most likely leave you be, if you leave them be, but mess with one, there are tens of thousands left behind to take revenge. I do not eaves drop on the conversations of ants. It is none of my beeswax.

They're inquiring how the hole was going  .... believe me.....You do not want to get all the way back to the work face and have the boss yell...." yep that's deep enough...we're outta here."

They were likely not having a sociable chat... IIRC the exchange has to do with pheromones and the trail. A chemical signal to follow.

Being silly and falling back on my College literature study days, I would venture to toss out there that your ants are a microcosm of society. You see, throughout our daily lives, are we doing anything more than what ants do on a daily basis? A few thousand feet in the air, and humanity looks like nothing more than those same ants.

Yeah, trying to rid myself of the liberalism of my college days. Your conservative prayers greatly appreciated.
