This is the only tune I have written that is like this, but it seems to have potential. Standard G tuning.

Oh, man, that's great.

I love the sound of A in G tuning.  The banjo rings differently. Don't know why.  Clarifying: I love hearing it. I can't do it.

Tony Trischka has some lessons on uncapoed A in his online school. But nothing like this.

Tremendous.

More of Laurence’s banjo wizardry and fretboard mastery. Great!

Thanks Ken. The sympathetic frequencies are different when you are playing out of A open - not just from the strings, but the whole instrument. I notice it especially when playing out of B flat open. It's an interesting phenomenon.

That’s true with acoustic guitars also if playing without a capo in different keys. Some keys sound happier, others more somber.

Is that why D minor is the saddest of all keys? devil

Laurence, have you ever tried playing Jerusalem's Ridge (Am) without a capo?  I'd be interested to hear your version

Ya, that's why I transposed "Nashville Blues" to e minor,, no capo, no re-tuning.,,,,  :-)

Doug, I think that last time I tried playing that tune it was in Am without a capo - where do you play it?

I can never get the Gm tuning capo 2 arrangement clean.  I do it without a capo too in Am.
