I always wanted one of those. The pair would do. I thought the price would be higher, but I have not followed gun prices for decades. Brad

If I had a couple million to spend on firearms, I'd want something historic...cased and engraved presentation Civil War Colts or something like that. The Model 70 was a fine rifle, but even SN 1&2 wouldn't trip my trigger at that price. Maybe a presentation grade 1873 or 1886 with exquisite provenance...

I bought a new Model 70 in .338 Win Mag in 1972 for bear protection while working outdoors in brown bear domain. It was a real piece of junk. Cheaply made. I had a Remington Model 700 in 30-06 made in 1971 that was no better. Cheap piece of junk. I used them for many years but finally sold them. I picked up a few sporterized 1917 Enfield rifles for a modest price and I treasure them. They are heavy duty hulks.

Yea, I am like that.  The only non-22 rifles I have is a 1920s 7mm mauser, non-sporterized.  and a stock Springfield A303, 30-06, and a M-1 carbine. The 7mm,  bought for about 20.00 back when I was in 9th grade, about 1967. And the A303 was my dad's as was th M-1.  I doubt they will ever quit making 30-06 ammo. So I am good, eh.  Any of these were fine on deer.  But starting as a bow hunter, I am spoiled to under 100 yard shots. Brad

My Model 94 is pre 1964 and is certainly much better than the later ones. Mine is almost mint condition as I didn't need it to shoot, so it is very well preserved. Someone is going to have to have a lot of money and be a serious collector for those two rifles. I have no idea where that price figure came from.
