I've been under self quarantine for most of the month. Yesterday, I found the stamina to venture out to get much needed supplies. I went to seven different locals, and everywhere I went, every last person was kind, caring, polite and PATIENT! If this is a virus of some sort, I hope it's catchy!

Have a Great Day All!

I've found that, as a general rule, if you smile at people, they smile back and it makes everyone happier, more patient and glad to be around you.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone. A quote from someone long ago.

I don't like the smile manipulators who stare you down with a big fake smile just to get you to's creepy. Otherwise, I am happy to smile at a genuine person who has
no ulterior motives. It's getting harder because employers are requiring their employees to smile and greet everyone within earshot. Maybe I'm a horrible person.

A slightly nastier variation:

LAUGH, and the World laughs WITH you.

CRY and the World laughs AT you!

@Mander: Glad to hear you're feeling better about this upfucculated old world, anyway.

Quarantine!! That's all over our news! There's 3 people in Canada with the Corona virus from China,(Maybe)

Three People! Run for your lives! The sky is falling! A guy came to work today wearing a mask!

It must be a slow news day so they're drum up some panic.

When I was a bartender a guy was bothering a waitress & asked her to smile.

She did & said O.K. Now you smile! He did & she said...Now hold that for 10 hours!

Mask?!! Mercy. I was living in Toronto (Trawnna fer yooz hosers) during the SARS outbreak. Mayor Mel “(Bad Boy Furniture”) Lastman was going up to people on the street telling them to take off their surgical masks.

Well, Chuck, we called him Mel Function!

I like to interact with the people who serve me, whether cashiers or wait staff. It's kinda neat to make a connection. When I was checking on something at Service Ontario (the provincial outlet for health cards, drivers' licenses, and so on) the guy was limping on crutches, so I asked. He said he was tobogganing with his kid. He said it loudly enough for everyone in line to hear. We all got a kick out of it.

The Mrs. can tell you about the personal history of some of the waitresses at the restaurants she frequents. One is a young woman who's been through cancer treatment. And the owner of the Pasta Shelf and I agreed that we really enjoyed Tom Brady's last pass of the season.

We are doing something together here, we don't need to do it like robots.
