Left eye hasn't closed all the way shut on its own since 2006.Right eye found to have Glaucoma.

On the 23rd I'm going into TOGUS for laser surgery to relieve right eye pressure..
Yesterday went to follow-up to last month's left eye surgery and Doctor is pleased with the healing and results which is eye closing completely,on its own (with the help of gravity).

This was at Maine Eye,sent there by the VA.One of three Doctors in Maine capable of the operation.
While being looked at there they discovered 22 pressure glaucoma in the left eye and sent that information to TOGUS in advance of my upcoming 23rd,there.

I've never been taken such great care of.Thank you,VA.

Good to hear that your eyes are getting cared for.

There are already enough talented but blind banjo players on the list.

Glad you're getting the care you need. Imagine what the pressure would be if you didn't smoke pot.

I've had a few readings of over 22. Once it was 27 but fortunately still no glaucoma. The specialist concluded that I have thick corneas which makes the pressure test read higher when in fact it isn't. I now get checked every 6 months anyhow. The eye Dr. told me that early detection means that it can often be treated for several years before damage is experienced. One of my friends has been taking the eye drops for about 25 years and he still drives etc .  Things have improved a lot in the last few years.

Steve, glad to hear a fellow vet has been taken care of properly. My eye doctor told me that all of us old folks have glaucoma to a certain degree. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Don

One more thing, Steve. I had laser surgery to open tear ducts. Zip and zap. No discomfort at all.

All I have to do is mention any concern I have.
Most work done on me is simply by putting myself in their hands and doing what they tell me,whatever and wherever that may be.

When I first went to them in 2007 they were concerned that I didn't have much of a medical history aside from the brain tumor operation in '06.They have since developed a sizeable record/history on me.
They now know everything about me.

Next on the list is to get my mouth and nose pulled to the left to cure my deviated septum and return breathing to the left nostril.Later this year,I hope.
Meeting in March.

Good to hear of your  progress, and that it's going in the right direction.  Your Drs sound like they know what they are doing, and are on the right track. Good luck!
