I know a few of you are avid ice fishermen and fisherwomen and just had to share!!!
This year was a late start do to no early ice on the bay (Little Bay de Noc) , but the few times I have been able to get out has been one of the best years for quality walleyes and numbers I’ve had in years !!! Have been getting limits each trip and have 3 fish over 28”
and one over 10 lbs. Trophy worthy fish that won’t be going on the wall, but released and hopefully will caught another day for someone !!! One of these large fish was not a survivor and made for some of the best poormans lobster I’ve had in a long time and I thank the Fish Gods for the bounty !!! Deeeeeeelicious!!!

Thanks Jonty, could have used some of that brew you make out there on the ice to celebrate ..........no refrigeration required !!! Actually we made do with the whiskey and coffee to stay warm . Saturday was miserable with 30-40 mph winds and even though we only got 1/2 inch of snow , we had 3-4 foot drifts around our shacks and 4x4’s. Wind chill was at least 20 below, but had the best day ever , although our fish were flash frozen in minutes as seen in the one picture. Had to clean them the next day after the thawed. Anytime you want your bucked filled, say the word !!!

Dale, is the ice okay to travel across to the Door County Brewing Co. [at Baileys Harbor??]  .... or are you gonna have to add a hovercraft to your stable?

Thanks Dale - I’ll take you upon that one day.  It does look like fun.  Our lakes barely ever freeze over these days let alone enough to walk on.  When I was a kid we all had ice skates for when the local lake froze but we just don’t get the cold temps anymore

I’ve just checked that place out - looks like it’s worth a visit, especially if you can troll your way over.   Can’t go wrong with a brewery that makes a beer called claw hammer smiley
