Does anyone recognize the headstock on the left here? It reminds me of an electric guitar I've seen, but I can't remember the brand--and in any case, the guitar would be well over a century more recent!

A lot of electric guitar designs use that six-on-a-side tuner configuration. You might be thinking of a Fender Stratocaster. That banjo peghead sure does resemble that!

If you could see the rest of it it would likely be a zither banjo.

Not that unusual to find that arrangement on a zither banjo.

It's a Riley Baker patent zither banjo.

Yes, Riley Baker. See here vintagebanjomaker.com/baker/4594323361
These are sometimes described as being made of pewter, but I find that hard to believe as it would surely be too soft and heavy. And would have terrible tone. I'm no metallurgist though and there might be different ratios for alloys like this. But I guess as an idea it hasn't really taken off either, so it may have just been a terrible experiment.
Interesting to see in a contemporary photo though.

The Riley Baker all metal banjos are aluminum. This is very early aluminum, before any of the aerospace alloys were developed. Produced only about 10 yrs after the aluminum extracton process had become cheap enough to make it a viable material for such things as banjos...

I know who would really enjoy having an all-aluminum banjo!

The aluminum lady from the movie.
(I think her son was in Star Wars.)

I think that's Maria from the movie Metropolis. I never thought she was attractive.

Thanks, John. I figured one of you classic banjo types would know.

I was definitely NOT thinking of a Stratocaster, vintagetenor. I'm very familiar with those. I was thinking of something from the '90s or early '00s that had the pegs along a curve, like what we see on that banjo.

Maybe that guitar headstock is from a Norea Gray Shark.

That's not it, but similar.

That five on a side was not exclusive to Baker aluminum zither banjos.  I have even seen regular banjos with them.

Here is an example of another build that I found with no effort on an image search.
