I am purchasing the Meyers Feather pickup for my banjo to play with my church worship team. I have been playing into an instrument mic up until now which has sounded pretty good. But as our band has grown, I'm now getting drowned out by all the other instruments.

What is the best placement for The Feather to get the best sound without hitting the mic with my hand?

If you figure it out please let the rest of us know. Hate to be a downer but I’ve not had very much luck with mine on any instrument. The guy who sells them is very nice and responsive. There are testimonials on his website that state you can plug it straight into a PA or into an amp but I have not found that to be the case. I plug it into an LR Baggs pre-amp /DI and then run it into an amp or a PA and the sound and volume is actually pretty good. But I have had that thing fall off of guitars and banjos during the middle of performances numerous times. Attachment mechanisms of which I believe I have three different options are all highly inadequate and clumsy. And I never found a great spot to mount it on the Banjo where my hand would not hit it. It is too short. I eventually just gave up on it and went back to playing into a 57. I’m sure there must be a way to secure it and the sound can be good so it is probably worth Monkeying around with but I just got too aggravated with it. Wish I could give a more positive review.

My Kay 5 string bass. Couldn't stand the sound on any of my banjos.
