Larry, you may be right. In this case it was an Ome XXX with a sheet brass (?) stamped flange, brackets and a hoop/spun metal tonering. 10 years of use, zero flange distortion, no damage to the flange plating. The Ome is lighter than a Mastertone by a couple pounds; I can't comment on the relative strength of a sheet metal flange vs a cast zinc flange. YMMV as always.
Very cool, Dave, we all want what works, I see a decade of use should have been enough, but you've got a great solution. Thank you for sharing with everybody. I loved ODE, I love OME. i USE 1/8" SHEET BRASS flatbar for my tone rings.
So I no longer feel it's adventurous.
