Sounds great! I've been on a long hiatus from CH fiddle tunes because the local jam went south so I have gone back to my CH roots of songs – I really enjoy listening to you and a few others who wander down the CH song road. How long have you gotten/played this low-pitched banjo? I have three banjos for singing – an 1890 SStewart Student #2, an Enoch Tradesman and a short scale Saga Pony banjo. The Stewart and Enoch have Aquila Minstrel strings tuned to low D – dADF#A and the Pony to open C – cGCEG. I wish I wasn't so dumb about how to post audio but I've been here on BHO more than 10 years and I remain clueless because it would be fun to share. Anyway, I sure enjoy your music and please – keep on postin'! banjered

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated.

The banjo is an old HC Nelsen, double spun. Probably built in the Schall factory with the features it has. The strings are Aquila Red Series, with a wound 4th. I really like them, and I've never had one break, even though people say this is a problem with Aquila strings.

The tuning here is Cumberland Gap - so mountain modal with the 1st string tuned down a step. Oh, and the whole thing is tuned about a step and a half down.

There are no jams of any description near me, so it's the songs that are alive for me. This one is pure Americana, but so many started over here, travelled, evolved, and have now come back. (And back again if you're watching me!) That's kind of cool.

To post audio you can record (phone, iPad or something better) but make sure that the file is the right kind. I think it has to be MP3 format. There's an app you can use to convert other files. There are probably lots of apps. Then upload to your BHO profile in the media section.

To post video it has to be on YouTube or similar first, then you just upload to BHO with the link.

It sounds complicated now I wrote it down!!

Thanks again Tom, I'll look forward to you posting a tune or two. Good luck.

Andy
