Going to heaven has nothing to do with going to church. It’s about how you treat people, like how you treat the least of my brothers is how you treat me, anyway even if that doesn’t give you a front row seat in heaven , it’s a good way to live, nothing about religion just sayin,

It all hinges on whether a person’s ‘reason’ for attending is motivated by a sense of avoiding ‘retributive punishment’. That bleakly, self-centred and narrow thinking is likely to impervious to the real purpose.

Seems to THIS old philosopher that IF there IS a Happy Place, and IF we were Intelligently Designed as a social species, then how we treat other members of our species is MUCH more important than what rituals we are involved in.

You're all cheerfully invited to the Yahoo! Answers "Religion & Spiritualty "  forum, where people inform each other ( with varying levels of glee) that everybody EXCEPT THEM deserves an eternity of torment, for thinking differently than THEY do.

Discussing Religion, or lack thereof, is not allowed on the HangOut, because it all too soon  becomes a fight.

Trucker joke : What’s the difference between a Jehovah Witness and a Freightliner truck?

You can close the door on a Jehovah Witness.

The problem with the wager as others have noted is that it is often presented by saying that a mere cognitive " belief" in the all mighty is all that  is necessary for salvation rather then a life lived as if the all mighty existed as Pascal actually says. I know we are getting very close to the BHO rules on religion. A discussion on the origins of the idea that faith alone is sufficient for  salvation  would be interesting but against the rules.

It is rumored that W.C. Fields, an avowed atheist was seen on his death bed reading the bible. When questioned on why he was doing this he replied "I'm looking for loopholes."

I have trouble seeing this as a non religious posts. In my mind it is poking fun . That in itself does not bother me in the least. But the fact that it is supposed to be viewed as non religious confuses the hell out of me. In my mind ,he is making fun of a much touted religious view without a fair rebuttal.I don't go for that type of religion either but the "under the radar " concept is not truthful either. Tell it like it is ,would fit my belief more.I even know some good preacher jokes myself.

I'm sure that CBC got several bags of mail after this clip was televised. Some people will take anything to task. Call it good humor, stupid humor, or deliberate blasphemy. Regardless of what any of us want to call it most people don't care.

When I lived in Michigan, we received shows from Canada. I regularly
watched Red Green and the Tommy Hunter show. I especially like the humor. My wife is "hooked' on watching "Corner Gas" on streaming TV.

That's great Dick! A lot of Canadians don't get corner gas. We still watch the re runs but can still get our fix with the animated version.
