I had a piece of curly ash in the lumber pile but I didn't realize it was curly till I planed it. I've been saving it since the spring for a suitable project. For details, pictures, and a short video please follow the link below.

Zach, what do you hear as the resonators contribution to the overall sound and tone?

In my hands it doesn't make much difference, but in the hands of a real banjo player my internal resonator banjos have seemed to me to be noticeably louder than my open backs, and the sound is a bit different too, I would describe it as a little more focused. I remember when Craig Evans was here he played my first ash IR banjo and said that its job was to reach people in back of the room, or something like that.

I play a donut resonator banjo a lot of the time. The sound is more focused and it does project well. Being a 12", this thing ought to be a hoss of a banjo.
