So I'm a teacher and I've been playing banjo for larger and larger audiences, which are mostly composed of young people, aged 11 to 25 (I'm 23 myself), and I live in a country where the banjo is only known from US TV shows and movies.

Whenever I'm playing, my audience wants to verify that the thing I'm holding is the same thing they saw on TV somewhere, and that's usually animated cartoons like Doug Funnie, Hoodwinked!, Woody Woodpecker etc. The song Be Prepared from Hoodwinked! was my first arrangement (it was actually one my biggest influences into playing banjo) and I love to play and sing that yodeling tune. But I don't know most other mentions of banjo in "pop culture" (other than the most typical Deliverance and such), so I decided to go into the internet to see if I can be ready the next time someone requests one of those songs.

My googling led me to only a few spare mentions of the banjo being depicted in animations, with no topic focused on compiling those. So I'm asking you guys if you remember any banjo-playing characters/scenes in animated cartoons (2D or 3D) from any time and whether you have tabs, sheet or just chords for those.

Oh mah gawd! That King of the Hill one is excellent! They even got fingerpicks and Charlie Daniels in it! Thanks everyone who's answered so far. This has been helping me a lot already.

Check out some of the old 1920’s and 30’s Mickey Mouse cartoons...in every other episode either he or Minnie is playing a banjo...I love the music from those early cartoons...all sorts of great songs that would never be in a cartoon today...” Dixie”, “Suwannee River”, “My old Kentucky home”, “Old Black Joe”...

Old Black Joe was one of my favorite songs in elementary school, it still runs through my head from time to time.  In college concert choir we sang a spiritual song, "Soon I Will Be Done Wib the Troubles Ob the World"  Both beautiful songs, but terribly racist.  Elementary school was in the 1950's, before the civil rights act.  College was 1970, choir director should have known better.

Why is almost everyone in the King Of The Hill video left handed?

That's really sinister.

Fairly Oddparents had a running gag in one of the movies about how "everyone hates the banjo".
Also the banjo makes it into a LOT of Bob's Burgers episodes.

I finally found the banjo scene in Woody Woodpecker. It's from Romp in a Swamp and he plays Gabby Gator's banjo in his shack.

Bob Belcher from Bob's Burgers tried to play the banjo. In a dream sequence he was a really good player. In real (animated) life? Meh!

And the singing voice of Boomhaurer may sound familiar. It was Vince Gill.

It appears, given the two clips posted above, that Bugs Bunny is not only an accomplished frailer, but he is also ambidextrous. His musical talents also extend to the fiddle and the bag pipes with accompanying one-man band. What a talent!

Fred Van Epps played on many of those tracks.
