If you're considering making purchases with your credit card, or any other financial transaction tool with the American Made Banjo company, be aware that their website is not secure,  Unfortunately, I only noticed that after making my purchase.  I immediately contacted them via email and requested they secure their site ASAP, as they're currently vulnerable to cyber-theft.

They have great prices, especially on strings, but I'm surprised they have neglected to safeguard their website.

This is just an FYI in case  you're thinking of making a purchase there.  My hope is that they'll correct this issue immediately.  Once I'm aware of that change, I'll update this post.

Update:  I received a quick reply from the American Made Banjo company that their order page is secure.  I checked and it is; it's all the other pages on the site that show the "not secure" warning for some reason on the Chrome browser.

Bottom line is-- I'm comfortable doing business there.

I believe you can secure your connection to their site by manually entering https:// in front of the www in their address.  I just tried that in the browser on my iPad and the lock symbol appeared in the address window when it connected to their site, indicating a secure connection.

I agree it would be preferable if AMB told their host to set the site to default to the secure https version. Unsecured sites are downgraded in Google search, so they could be costing themselves business.

I guess they are not worried about a MITM attack peeking at your banjo string choices before you buy. I suppose I am not so worried about that either, but it would be no more work to redirect the entire site to HTTPS than to do just the order pages.

I've ordered strings and parts from Tom at American Made for years with no problems. Great guy.
