I "discovered" Patty Loveless several months ago, and have been listening recently on-line to her several "Mountain Soul" albums.Got hooked on her via the YouTube clip of she and Dr. Ralph singing "Pretty Polly." Love the songs, subjects, lyrics, arrangements, she reminds me of Dolly Parton. What do you guys think of her?

I didn't pay much attention to Lovelace until I heard her sing "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive". She is for real.

A great singer. Her bluegrass singing is as good as it gets, imo.

Youtube reminds us (well, at least me), that I'm getting old. Still I love love to hear a woman singer sound like Patty. Makes me glad to know I can still hear that voice.

I thought this thread was about people who have tried and rejected the Impossible Burger . . .

I was an instant fan of Pattie. She had throat surgery a few years ago having to do with overuse,I believe.
She seems to have come through that with flying colors.

Yes, she can sing bluegrass with the best of them. I've got the Moutain Soul album. I'll have to get that Christmas album, it just make my wife like bluegrass.

Chuck, thanks for the link. I'm no fan of Christmas music but that song proves the exception to the rule. I'm new to Patty's stuff but I'll risk this opinion: country music seems fraught with risk at balancing popular with "traditional" arrangements and material. Personally, I loathe the popular stuff, but I understand the need/appeal of the popular market to sustain a career. With the exception of classical music, I have never bought an album in any genre that I loved without exception.

I love her voice, especially on songs like "Two coats". I'm waiting with great anticipation for the Mountain Soul album to arrive.

Hey Steve, I was surprised to find that she's been on the scene for the past 15-20 years. I don't want to buy her entire catalog: What 3/4/5  albums would you suggest?

I don't know much about albums,David.
I'd feel safe buying anything she's on.That's how I used to shop for Bill Keith...whatever record he was on,even if only one or two tunes.
Look for songs that she's harmonizing on,too.

Thanks Steve, I think I should use YouTube as a research source.

Got to see her maybe 20 or so years ago, from front of audience, she was only maybe 30 feet from me. Tv doesn’t do her justice. A truly beautiful woman who has a phenomenal voice. She was super attractive then.
