Tani,
Look at John Balch's classified ads. He is a member here and mounts beautiful skin heads. I just got one for a BC-350. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply .Do have a John Balch goat skin head on my Vega.Excellent sound.Atfer contacting him today he says that the stern tanner skins are unavailable from the supplier.May order another goat skin from him.But at the moment would like to shop for a calf skin.John says that he does have the goats skins  but does he have calf skins?Do you or anyone here know of anyone that can supply me with a good quality calf skin for my other banjo.Thank you for any assistance fellas.

Bill Miller passed away some years ago. Do ask John Balch if he has any calf skins, otherwise you can also order them from Elderly.

You can also order calf skin heads from Smakula Fretted Instruments. I've used a couple and they were nice.

I've done this as well and was very pleased with the results.

Hi Tani,
Just a thought and a bit of encouragement to set one up yourself! I was a bit intimidated to try this my first time, but after ordering a skin, making a flesh hoop out of some wire I picked up at the hardware store, and following the instructions I found online, I successfully installed a head the first time and it was quite fun.

Good luck!
