I found a way to go youtube to mp3 without using a converter but you do need to use Audacity. Audacity can record the sound of your computer directly. In the past the youtube to mp3 converters have scared me because of the threat of virus's. Here is a link of how to use Audacity to record MP3 as your computer plays it.
I used option 2 and it worked well. It does not allow adjusting the recording level but I found that to be good.
Some time back a BHO member recommended using the free software "Viddly". I do a lot of downloading, so I gave it a try. I found it very easy to use, and it allows me to download the video or audio. It is now my download software of choice.
Youtube videos can disable downloading. This has sometime happened with every type of download software I have used.
That's a neat facility. But the drawback with Audacity is that it alters pitch when slowing tunes down. That's why it never seems worthwhile to install it.
For sound recordings I just use a Tascam recorder, upload the .wav file to my computer via the USB lead and use iTunes to convert it to MP3 or MP4 format. It sounds a cumbersome process but in practice it only takes me around 30 seconds.
