I'm a few credits short of being an "expert," but I will say I was particularly ill-informed as to how good the Nats are.  From what I see [when I'm not snoozing, flipping back-and-forth to hockey, or TITMing] both teams have pretty good starting pitching, and HR power.   I fearlessly predict a good, entertaining series.

Anyhow...it's all moot... "Go, Yankees, Go!! [for next year].  cheeky

It’s tough to beat a team that’s got its mojo working.

They ain't my 'Spos.

One they left Montreal, the Expos ceased to exist.

I was about to reply that that was a mighty cold and angry action......AND THEN.....I remembered when my beloved Houston Oilers moved to and became the Tennesse Oilers...eventually the Titans. Oh I was so mad. Once the name change and all the old players were gone....they ceased to exist for me too....

Third base coach Bob Henley is the only “ old Expo” left.

Meanwhile, the Nats have exposed Houston’s problems. The weekend promises to be a doozy.

Hey, there's a Pizza Pizza ad behind the batter.catcher, umpire as Verlander is making his record-setting strikeout. There's a Sportchek ad, too. Do that many Canadians watch this?

Paul,, I saw Canadian Tire ads and wondered the same thing. Apparently those are virtual ads that the TV people can control, depending what market they serve.  Here's an example...

....check the "banners" hanging on the glass behind NHL goalies.  One ad is displayed... play goes up the ice and back, and what the ?? .... there's a different banner. I figure the people that are doing the switch must be pretty good, given the time constraints and all, and you never see a banner hung cock-eyed.   Ditto for baseball's on-field ads near the 1st. and 3rd. base coaches boxes.

Now, the important question... does the infield/mound get raked during a game?  If so, how many times?

Sometimes I used to interrupt my snooze specifically to watch the "Home Hardware cleaning crew" dress the infield at Jays games [no apostrophe ??] hoping that there'd be a pile-up when they came charging out, but, alas .....    Now I'm thinking it was probably a virtual crew.... or once they got a good take [even with editing],  then they just used the same film clip over and over...

Washington Nationals W logo looks a lot like the W in Walgreens logo. Trade mark infringement?

Some weird form of branding? After all, the Blue Jays were named after a brand of beer (Labatt Blue - Labatt was an original sponsor).

Things sure have changed in today’s game. I’ve never seen so much joking among players from each team when a guy gets on base. In the past the other guy was your enemy. But maybe it keeps them loose - a relief valve- in a super-hyped series of games.

True, Paul, but then blue was the colour of Toronto's other two professional sports teams - the Maple Leafs & the Argonauts - so I think they wanted to stay with that colour.

First time I can remember a WS that I simply didn't care who won. I just want it to go 7 games; there won't be any baseball to see for another 6 months.

Toronto's soccer team wears red - and the Montreal soccer team wears blue.   ???  And the Alouettes wear blue! They wore red when I used to see them at Molson/McGill Stadium.

The Jays could have worn blue and had another name, The blue in the name reflects the brand of beer. Sort of like product placement in Hollywood movies.

True story: We brought at least ten classes to a Jays' game at the old Exhibition stadium, by TTC (public transit). The Jays were losing and most of the teachers rounded up their classes to head to the bus stop and get back to school. I figured we'd be waiting a long time at the bus stop, what with all the people ahead of us, so I kept my class in the stands. Wouldn't you know it? The Jays won it in the bottom of the ninth. I can still imagine the other teachers and students hearing the cheers as they're walking away from the stadium.

8-1 Astros, 7th inning. Looks like we’ve got a series.

Had a chance to hit 2 grand slams in the same inning. I would have loved to see that. Would have been a first for a World Series.

St. Louis had a third baseman that hit 2 grand slams in 1 inning off the same pitcher. Bet that doesn't happen again.
Can't remember which one. It was against the Dodgers, I'm sure.

Give that man a cee-gar!!   yes

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_single-game_grand_slam_leaders

Fernando Tatis, Cardinals, April 23, 1999.  [The site doesn't give the opponent, but I'll take Clifton's word for it.]

Edit: Looks like it happens about once a century.  With my limited grasp of chance and probability, I suspect that it will happen again... all we have to do is be patient.   [Having said that, I'll not take you up on the wager.]   wink

There has been 6 times when 2 grandslams were hit in the same inning. All 6 were in the regular season.

I sure wish he would have done it last night.

Not off of the same pitcher. I remember the pitcher was Oriental but  no sure of his name. Think the batter may have been Tatis.

Painful series to try to watch. Games lacking drama (with the exception of Game 1) along with mistakes made by both teams that were not typical for them in the regular season. The length of the games (averaging close to the 4 hour range) is also awful. I saw that it is the lowest rated series in a long time. The Nats can be fun to watch but overall the series is a disappointment for me.
