Just acquired an beautiful 5 string Ode from a neighbor and I took the back off and found the numbers 995 in the ring, the words Boulder, Co and 995 also on the neck support. Other numbers in the inside were 32 and the word grade, with a 3 above. I am a guitarist but want to learn banjo and was wondering how I can find out how old this instrument is as I am also a collector of old instruments. He said it was pre-Baldwin. There was a set list inside the case from a July 8 and 9, 1972 performance at the Folklore Center ( I think Denver). Thanks Woolvin James
It's probably a '63, early '64...pix please. Model 32 is a regular scale, as opposed to the long neck Model 33. That's a banjo I have my eyes on. Congrats! Grade 3 is a build grade. What's the inside look like? Aluminum pot with a brass insert underneath the head? Here's the catalog of the year yours might be, or close...
