I'm sad to have learned today of the loss of a major influence in Old Time Music, Peter Hoover. Many of you may know of his extensive work in collecting field recordings in the 60s and 70s, as well as his talent as an Old Time musician.
I learned of this just this afternoon from his first wife, Caroline, at a monthly fiddle tunes jam and with whom several friends of mine and I regularly jam.
He was a giant of a man in Old Time Music, both literally (6' 9") as well as figuratively. fieldrecorder.org/768/
Our sincere condolences go to his family and friends.
