The GTR is an awesome banjo. I have the same Mahogany hearts and flowers model (as the one for sale here) that I bought for a second banjo around 20 years ago. It's got great action/ dynamic sound and tone/ and extreme ease for playability for "just a Masterclone" banjo. I did buy a new set of 5 tuners from Elderly for mine and I also replaced the original tailpiece with a Fults 1934. It sounded good when I bought it, and it sounds even better these many years later. And that is all without a set-up or neck refit from Robin Smith, which would be a very definite added plus. The GTR is a banjo that is a "professional banjo" in every sense of the word and for a very good and reasonable price. Just my two ¢'s worth.
I agree with the above comment; these are good banjos, especially for the money. I had one for a while and found it to be loud and well-balanced, with surprising depth of tone. An good, affordable choice for the beginner, and one that I think will also meet the criteria of the experienced player.
Everytime I go to Elderly's, if there's a GTR on the rack, I have to play it. I like them a lot. Don't think I've ever picked a bad one to be honest.
Thanks Guys, I'm really surprised this one isn't sold.
I am surprised no one bought it already.
