Good morning from Springfield Vermont public Library.
Figured as long as I was going to be in Vermont, visiting bro Charles, may as well finagle a visit to Figmo & Liz.
They treated me like royalty.
He's got toys that twang and toys that bang and a Very Nice wife and interesting family and friends.
Enjoyed myself thoroughly, swapping stories and picking on his banjos, including something made from a fiddle and a YARDSTICK.
Fun playing the fast part of Wm Tell Overture ( Lone Ranger theme) by bouncing the bow off the strings, and hearing the music coming out of the little amp!
Left there after supper, Sunday night.
And, apologies to my vegetarian friends, but that chicken did not die in vain!
My instructions from Bro Charles were to take 91 north to Springfield, get off at exit 7
AMAZING how quickly I got there!!
Could not find exit 7 (US 5, VT 11), but I found an exit for ONLY U.S. 5, took that, wandered around, called him for directions, got voice mail.
Figured after a LOT of driving on 5, I'd get BACK on 91,SOUTH, go back to exit 1, and take it from there, heading NORTH again.
Headed north, saw a big sign "WELCOME TO MASSACHEUSTES ( or however it's spelled!)
DAM me like a beaver pond, or DARN me like an old sock!
As a big fan of the SIMPSONS tv show, how could I have forgotten that there are towns all over the US named Springfield, and I had gotten off in the WRONG ONE.
So I just kept going, until I saw a mileage marker for Brattleboro VT, and then I knew that I was nearing VERMONT, which is THE Springfield I had sought.
Got there, had a chat, had a good night's rest, had a nice breakfast with Chuck and a couple of his friends who dropped in.
All y'all have a nice day.
Leaves are probably a bit more colorful up that way by now. Glad you found it OK. Their Springfield's a tad nicer than Massachusetts', but the one in Mass has a casino, not that that'll help any.
Good to hear. Glad a good time was had by all.
