For those of us who weren’t around back in the day, please tell more about Mr. Cava... I’m already a big fan of his bubbles...

Playing banjo and following the rules of BanjoHangout are two different things.

Yes we miss him here. He is posting banjo videos on YouTube under his name - I love the way he improvises on the tenor banjo.

For those who do not know Dave. He is a great 5 string player and devoted to the learning and playing the Tenor banjo. His licks are quite unique , so his style is his own. His loss here is felt by many of the members including myself. Mike Hashem

David was locked out by the mods for flaunting the rules one too many times.

A pity really, for when he was straight he was really quite clever, funny, witty and intelligent; however when he had downed a few scotches he became quite belligerent in his postings - someone I wouldn't invite to dinner. He knows he has a drinking problem, and I sincerely hope he can overcome it some day. It's his choice of course.

I would have to have examples to adopt that for sure .He was always keeping some topics rolling.a loss to the population in a way imo

can't disagree that he would get loose in the off forums ,but I just clicked on down the road on those

from what the op said ,his drinking was no problem Saturday

Dave is a great tenor player with a great singing voice. He is a pleasure to watch perform. He concentrates on his own style and doesn't try to imitate others. Dave will be at the Keystone Banjo Bash in March, (posted a flyer) if you want to see him perform and jam, along with others from the hangout including the great player Mike H. And may I say that Mike, it was a pleasure jamming with you on Saturday!

Annie: Thanks for the kind words IR to last weekend. I had an enjoyable time seeing everyone. As stated I,ll be at Keystone with Bill Birtles . Yes ,Dave and Julia will be there also. It would be nice to see a few old friends and or some new faces there. Mike Hashem PS If there was any drinking last weekend it was by me. Dave and Bob Barter, Lance MacClean along with Albie Bernard were the stars of the show. The very last song that was performed by them was the very best. A Beatles song that I,ve never heard done like they did. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! IMHO MH

Hey Mike, what Beatle song? Do you know of any videos available from the event?
Regarding David, I consider him a friend. I’m subscribed to his YouTube channel. David is sorely missed here.....

Hi All - with apologies. Rarely get to post anything recently; blame a very busy life including grant seeking for & management of a 138-year old NFP theater (is there any other kind?), musical gigging & family...oh, and my job, too.

Thank you Mike for your kind words. It was a privilege & joy to play with those guys + Annie & Johnny, the Vitales, the Rheels and SO many others this past weekend. That particular ensemble played in a few variant configurations. I brought my recent acquired mandocello (a GoldTone - 4 string pairs an octave below standard tenor tuning) out for our final "bluegrass" set with Lance on mandolin, David on 5-string & vocals & the irrepressible Albie Bernard on tuba. First 3 tunes were bluegrass feel - featuring David's killer playing and vocals. The finale was suggested by me so I could snag some vocal and get into some rhythmic groove on the Beatles' "Come Together" as Lance & David each took solos. I didn't even look at the audience 'cause I was so immersed in enjoying the interaction.

Presently planning Keystone in the schedule for March; Annie, your playing is great & so are your ears. You & Johnny sound great! BTW Mike - I didn't get to play along with you AT ALL last weekend & we need to change that.

...and my son just left this morning to join his fiancee in Austin, TX. I'll have to visit. He tells me there's some music there. David said be sure to warn aintbroke before I arrive.

Hey hoodoo
here is the link. David will post quite a few tenor videos but will take them down rather quickly so you got to listen to them straight away.

Mr Bob Barta, thank you for allowing me to jam a little with you and thank you for showing me the Beetle songs. I can't get them out of my head now! Sorry we did were not able to stay and hear the show, I'm sure it was awesome. Gigs on Sunday, so we had to leave.
