I bought a nice looking used set of four Gotoh unplated brass tuners with black buttons, for my current project. Seller says they came off a 2 year old Rickard banjo. Need the matching 5th string tuner if possible. I've looked around, looked on the Rickard site and others, eBay, etc. I could easily buy a gold plated Gotoh with a black button if my search fails. Won't look exactly the same but won't stick out like a sore thumb either. I'd buy a brass one with any color button of course.

Try Smakula's website:

smakula.com/nbp.html

If they don't have it, they can probably get it.

Edit: I think the x-gold is what they carry for raw brass now.

Thank you Moose! That is likely the way I'll go! The x-gold looks great. Much appreciated.

I just got a set of Gotohs in raw brass with black buttons with the X-gold fifth tuner from Smakula.  It's close enough that you'd miss the difference if you didn't look closely.

Beautiful banjo.

Mine won't be as pretty, it's being put together with mostly used parts. But I think it will be a good one anyway.
