If anyone is willing to speculate, where would one best get a 5-string neck for this banjo, and about how much would you expect to spend on it? (No need to comment on the price for the banjo as it is.)

Most 5 strings necks that are used can be bought for about $500 in good condition. If you want to restore one I have seen them anywhere from $100-$300. I'm talking about new frets, refinished, peghead filled and sanded, some might be slightly warped etc.

One choice would be an Eastman neck, available from Bernunzio Uptown Music.  $275 with no inlays, $320 with inlays.
