I don't know a lot about Iucci banjos, only that they are considered as very good instruments and collectable, and I'm curious about them. There is a sinfinico #3 for sale not very far away from my place for $3000, looking for Iucci banjos I saw very various prices from $1500 (baby grand model) to $5000 (sinfonico), all seem in same good condition. Is a "baby grand" higher in quality than a "sinfonico" ? Is there a significant difference in building (tone ring, etc...) ?

I did consider purchasing an Iucci Sinfonica - it was fairly light-weight for a resonator banjo but too bright for me; the pot is all aluminium.

I believe the Sinfonico had a metal rim whereas the Baby Grand had a wood rim. I own a Baby Grand Style 3 and the construction is rather unusual; the neck bolts on and there is no dowel stick nor coordinator rods. The heel is also flush with the resonator instead of the resonator being notched. They're incredibly cool banjos and of very high quality.
