Really enjoying this banjo. Very bright and ringy tone. Not necessarily a bad thing but maybe a bit too much for clawhammer. Sticking a rag behind the head helps some.

Has anyone on here put a Renaissance head on the AC-1? How does it sound? Looking for feedback before I order one and

Banjo is a code word for experimentation. A Renaissance head is worth trying as would a better tailpiece (I'd try a no knot) and I always put on a thicker bridge. The overall setup is key. With a no knot I wind something (I've used a lace or even some thin card) around the strings between tailpiece and bridge. I'd certainly try a Renaissance head.

You might also consider a fiberskyn head, I have used both on trsonator banjos that I play 3 finger up pick and clawhammer.
