The cachet of Haggard's "signature" makes up the difference. IF the seller has written provenance for the autograph. And, IF someone wants to pay that much for the autograph.

I doubt any autograph would be worth nearly $5,000.... at least not to me.

There are a few guitars autographed by Merle Haggard on collectors.com that aren't even close in price.

Someone didn't do their homework.

Or else hoped some sucker wouldn't research it and pay a ridiculous price for the guitar.
