Thanks BHO members for all the knowledge and wisdom in the forums! I recently acquired the remaining instruments from a private banjo collection, and some are for sale here on BHO. This cigar box banjo plays fine and sounds nice. Steel strings. Any idea what neck it has?
My guess, and it's JUST a guess, is that the neck was made by someone NOT working in a banjo factory at the time.

Yes. Probably a neck and dowel recycled, frets pulled, covered up with brass. The nut is pretty wide.
