OK... So it has been a really long while since I picked up a banjo. About 3 months ago now I picked up an Eastman 315 mando, which also lit the banjo flame inside me again.

SO... I already had me a Washburn B120 (Distressed) banjo, and started playing it again along side my new mando. It a had a string buzzing, so I took it in to be set up again. So I get it home, and decide I want to order a fiberskin head to put on it to make it look even more old timey. I get the head from Elderly in like 3 days. As I am installing the new head I chip a little piece of wood off of the edge of the fingerboard. Then I over tighten a bolt and pull one of the connectors off of the banjo. At that point I realized that this banjo did not have a real one piece pot. So I put all the parts in the case. Took the banjo down to the store that set it up to have them fix it for me, and then sell it on consignment.

Edit: I decided not to sell it. I am going to donate it to the Arizona Bluegrass Association as soon as it is repaired!

The next morning I went down to Acoustic Vibes here in Arizona, and got me a used Gold Tone OB-250 for only 750 bucks! This thing is like brand new. Hardly ever played. Real mother of pearl inlays from the the 1st fret on. I am so happy! I was going to order an RK-80, but this Gold Tone will do just fine!

Thanks for reading!

Congrats, those are great long term players, there's threads about upgrading to JLS and other tonerings but I'd just play it as it is (but check tonering fit).

Banjo's easier to play than mandolin but harder to carry around, one way to increase fretting hand strength for mando is to carry your banjo around in that hand!
