I have been trying to learn new songs since i lost my banjo teacher. I came across this in tablature and do not know what it means. Can you help? Thanks. Tom in Mich.

probably a symbol for chimes or harmonics at the 12th fret. google harmonics, words aren't as good as a video to describe it. That's my guess with the information provided....a recording of this version of that song would be great.

I second that it's probably for harmonics

Ditto. There aren’t any standards for symbols in tablature. There’s often a key in tab books but if a tabbed tune was photocopied it may not include the key.

Yep, probably harmonics. I've sometimes seen harmonics indicated with a diamond surrounding the number.
